My Evergoods cpl24 Phoenix and tumi Nathan leather are my compact EDC. Some people use a 34L gr2 and TP2 as an EDC. On sizing, really depends, some people use 30-35 liters as their daily carry if they haul a ton of stuff, mainly packing cubes with clothes.

The new TP3 changes makes it super enticing. Bo Ismono reviewed the TP1 a few years ago (time flies), he's 5'7 I believe. Traveling Salseros on YouTube has a great review on the travel pack 2 and he's 5'11. I got to try the TP2 at Bloomingdales back in 2019. I'm 5'7 and I think the Goruck Gr2 and Aer Travel Pack 2 have looked fine on my back. I think you'd be better work the Aer Travel Pack 3 Small 28L if you plan on using it as a day bag. These revised dimensions also result in more volume, with the Travel Pack 3 boasting 35 liters of real estate versus the 2’s 33 liters. For EDC I think the Travel Pack 3 would be too big. And, while it still measures 21.5 in length, the bag’s width has been shortened by half an inch (down to 13 from 13.5) and its depth has increased by the same amount (going from the 8.5 to 9). I don't own an Aer TP2, however I do use a Goruck 34L Kaidan Carryology GR2. I only found that if you overpack their bags, like any bag beyond its true carry, any strap can become a nuisance, and even these dug mercilessly into my traps. Also, their bags allow more room for adjustment where you can wear them lower. The rucker 3.0 i had seemed to let me carry anything i thru at it.īut if you just want a softer than soft strap, tom bihn gets my vote. The straps are the worst in terms of comfort but when cinched close to the body, the pack rigidity almost becomes a part of you, locking your load right to your body, making the overall experience much more comfortable for large load carry.
